Rapeseed oil, water, sugar, vinegar, onions (3.9%), pasteurised egg yolk, roasted onions (2.9%) (onions, palm oil, wheat flour, salt), tomato puree, concentrated lemon juice, salt, flavourings, paprika (0.6%), colour (cartoons), antioxidant (calcium dis sodium EDTA), may contain traces of mustard

Algerian sauce (Sauce Algérienne) is a zesty, spicy, and aromatic condiment with a rich, creamy base (typically mayonnaise or a similar emulsion) enhanced with mustard, shallots, vinegar, black pepper, and chili pepper or harissa for heat. Some variations include tomato/tomato sauce, anchovies, capers, and other spices, adding depth and umami.

  • Creamy & Tangy (from mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar)

  • Spicy & Smoky (from harissa or chili peppers)

  • Savory & Umami (from optional additions like anchovies, capers, or spices)

Why the Name?

Despite its name, Algerian sauce was invented in Belgium (likely by a Moroccan immigrant inspired by North African flavors). It reflects the bold, spicy, and aromatic qualities of Maghrebi cuisine but isn’t a traditional Algerian recipe.
